Im still hunting for something with a turn of speed, but as a bit of an odd ball motor, i stumbled into looking at a volvo S80 T6.
Now the power, and age im loving, a 2002 for about 2 - 3 grand... 2.8 Litre and 270 BHP. leaving me enough in the pot for a clean 80's Silvia S12 project car when one comes up for sale. (they are getting thin on the ground now)
Im have no real knowledge of volvos and im going to go and look at one tomorrow. anything that you lot know specific to the breed?

Great car, but unloved hence very low residuals.

BMW 530 petrols are also dropping to around that price and have similar performance and luxury. Worth a look.
But big volvos are very cool.0 -
My old Rover 620ti was the best sleeper I ever had.
200bhp in a Rover 600, and it cost me £200 with a full MOT!0 -
Volvo S80 T6... 2.9 twin turbo 6 pot with 272bhp, good god who ever thought of putting that engine in a volvo must have been either a nutter or a genius!
its a real wolf in sheeps clothing.0 -

FWD and can be a little scrabbly under heavy acceleration in first. especially at about 4000 rpm when the turbos really spool up.
good fun car though, and a total sleeper:D0
