Who to claim PPI from? seller or loan company?

Hi Im hoping someone can give me some advice. Back in 2005 we bought a car from Carcraft (big mistake in itself) and to do this carcraft sorted the finance out through The Funding Corporation. I have runge them and got all details etc, downloaded questionnaire and sent it to them to try claim back the PPI charges. Today I have recieved a letter from them saying that they are the wrong respondents as they didnt sell us the loan! Is this correct and if so who do we put the claim in with because im sure Carcraft wont do anything!
Please help has anyone else come across this response?

Thanks:(

    Hello there

That is correct that you pursue the ones who sold you the product, so in your case CarCraft, head office or complaints dept, the Funding Co are the ones who funded you and you may also find that the paperwork is also those of the Funding Co, but I would write to Carcraft to make a reclaim and also send them a copy of the letter you received from the other business, good luck.;)

Some news about CarCraft on here too.

The one and only "Dizzy Di" :D
  • ok thankyou I will try that although knowing what Carcraft are like I think im gonna have a fight on my hands!
  • Carcraft are directly authorised by the FSA so provided the policy was sold on or after 14 January 2005 you can, if necessary, take the matter to FOS.

Carcraft have 8 weeks from receipt to attempt to resolve the complaint first, though. I suggest you fax it to 01706 752 506 and keep the fax receipt. (You can do this from your PC if you have a fax modem).

Althernatively, get proof of posting (free from the Post Office). If necessary, FOS will normally deem it to have been delivered two working days later.
