Hi Folks,
Excuse the long winded title but...
Where have all the good screen savers gone?
All I can find now is dodgy ones are maleware viruses.
Please find a link below to some
http://www.reallyslick.com/
I would like you all to add a link to a free groovy screen saver.
Just 4 rules
1.They need to be groovy:cool:
2.They need to be free:money:
3.They need to be virus free:mad:
4.They need to be ScreenSavers:rolleyes:
And is there a way to make my computer pick a differnt screen saver each time one is activated.

have you tried https://www.download.com?
i know they have free screensavers that are virus/malware free
whether or not you can find a funky one there is another thing though
although i got a funky fire one there that made everything look like it was burning (windows etc)

More and more people set their Windows to power saving their monitors when they are not using it and so screensavers are becoming less popular."Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect." - Mark Twain0

Also the whole point of screensavers originally was to prevent burn in but that's not really an issue anymore. Personally if I didn't just have power saving mode I'd probably go for a distributed computing thingy like the folding@home project."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

The Electric Sheep screensaver (http://electricsheep.org/) is pretty good. It's open source too, so hopefully there aren't any dodgy viruses or spyware lurking beneath the surface.0

I cant see the point of screensavers anymore as Monitors can be left on 14hrs a day with no problems, also they interrupt CD burning Defrag and other applications that need most resources,0

Although we're not talking huge amounts of energy here, the screen-saver will stop your monitor going from the ~25W it uses when active to the ~1W it uses when 'sleeping'. That will cost you a few p per hour...

Wow this thread seemed to come to a halt dismally! A very boring screensaver came with my PC (it advertises Fujitsu-Siemens) and I let it run for the last 10 mins before the monitor goes off for a sleep and energy saving rest. But it would still be NICE if I could have a prettier screensaver eg fish swimming about or something else for those 10 mins!
Per the rules laid out at the start of this thread - any suggestions?
Oh - another idea - any freeware out there that will randomly display a selection of your photos as a screensaver?0
