Comet item not as described. ADVICE Wanted

I bought an all in one computer from comet and it is not as described. I selected a touchcreen model instore and when i got home the touchscreen didn't work. i contacted manufacturers and comet and was told to take it back to the store for repair or exchange. i took it back to the store they told me they would need to run a recovery and this would take about an hour so i went away and came back. when i returned they said that the touchscreen wasn't broken as it wasn't a touchscreen model but they think the problem was i choose one model and as the member of staff who served me was new he in fact gave me a different model. they offered to exchange the model to the touchscreen model but i would have to pay £200 to upgrade i didn't know why i should have to pay for their mistake also i couldn't afford it. so they told me there was nothing else they could do, but i am certain that they must have been displaying the wrong model as it was definately advertised with touchscreen and for £499.99. I went home and i couldn't understand the mix up and started doubting myself and thought that maybe it wasn't a touchscreen i had seen instore but my husband and his parents were there when i bought it and said that i am right and it was a touchscreen model i was looking at.
i have contacted comet customer services by email as i didn't want to have to drive back to my local comet store which is 20miles away and them just fob me off again and they have told me there is nothing they can do as they have investigated the matter and the touchscreen model has never been on sale for £499.99 in that store and i must have made a mistake. I am thinking about contacting trading standards as i am absolutely certain they were displaying the wrong model and my husband and his parents are also witnesses. Do you think i should or should i do anything else first.

What does your receipt say?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

the model on receipt is the model they gave me and on the back just information on marketing, receipt came in leaflet with telephone number if i had any problems or wanted to return an item but that was if i hadn't opened box.0

Do you have any proof they were advertising a touchscreen model at £499? You probably won't get that far - you have purchased X computer at £499 and paid that. It's not what you were expecting, so they have agreed to take it back, but it's not unreasonable to ask you to pay for the computer you wanted, if that was £699 anyway.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Thats not the main point of the problem, the op clearly believes the comp was mis sold as they were led to believe it was a touch screen. The fact that it isn't and they want an extra £200 means the op is not prepared to pay it and wants a refund. If the op can prove their case they would be entitled to a refund but the store is refusing one on the basis of them being mistaken, so they are now stuck with a comp they don't want. The problem is with the store denying the product was ever advertised as a touch screen, the op will have to prove otherwise, relatives would not make for reliable witnesses, they will need to either convince them or have definative proof.Do you have any proof they were advertising a touchscreen model at £499? yes unholyangel, how was i supposed to know what i was getting until i opened the box at home as they look practically the same. the sales person took box to checkout i just paid assuming that i was receiving the correct product. maybe i should have checked and maybe i should just learn from experience. i will make sure i do next time but just makes me so mad that i didn't get the product i wanted and the main reason i bought it was because it was a touchscreen and thought that my little boy would find it easier to use than having to try to use a mouse.:(0
