Tablet advice please for pensioners

I'm looking to purchase a sub £200 tablet for my parents who are both in their 70's for xmas. I don't know too much about them (tablets that is not my parents).
I want one that's simple enough for them to understand and use, 8gb expandable, with USB ports. Mainly so they can use it for internet browsing, photo viewing with ebook availability. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thanks.

Why do you want it to have USB ports?

May be to connect a camera to, or for daveb157 to bring pictures or camcorder recordings to show. Would suggest a tablet without USB not user friendly.

Very few tablets allow you to attach USB devices. They're normally client-only i.e. they can be connected to a computer as a device themselves, but can't 'see' or use cameras, USB keyboards/mice etc connected to themselves

HMV have a 10" android tablet with a microSD and USB port (for mass storage) for £120, it is not a £500 tablet but for internet browsing, photo viewing and ebooks it is absolutely perfect you can even get angry birds on there using getJar.

no idea if it has any internal storage but that's what the microSD card slot is there for.

Think the one in HMV is the Archos 7, so 7 inch screen for £120, has 8 gb storage. The archos (arnova) 10 is a nice tablet, nice fast capacitive screen, only downside is you use there appslib for your apps.
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

nah it's not the archos 7, it's a no-name make, I haven't seen it myself but I have just a couple of hours ago been told about it, came online to look for it on the hmv website but couldn't find it so remembering this thread I thought I'd post it.

  • As we get older our eyesight deteriorates. Therefore it may be a good idea to check whether something with such a small screen won't cause your parents too much eye strain. It may be a good idea to take them to a computer shop and check whether it's suitable for them before buying one.
  • Thanks for the advice money savers think I might go for the CPW Archos at £99.99
