Convert powerpoint to jpg?

Hi

I'm trying to create a small ad to go in our local newsletter. It comprises of text and graphics and needs to be a specific size (226x158 pixels). I've used powerpoint because I can save it as pptx and go back and edit it any time.

However, now it is finished I need to save it as jpg (or any graphic format really) to email to the printer. It's possible to do this in powerpoint but the jpg loses resolution when opened in anything else and looks blurry.

Any tips please? Thanks.

could you take a 'print screen' of the open powerpoint (maybe while it's full screen), then paste and save it in 'paint' using .png format (png because it will keep the image sharp)
  • Hi, thank you, but it doesn't retain the size and when I scale it down it goes blurry again. I'm sure I'm missing a trick somewhere!

Is the DPI setting the same?

If the image is not confidential, have you got a link to it?

did you use the resize feature of paint? that doesn't make pictures go blurry for me.

on windows 7 resize is just next to select

Here is how to save Powerpoint slides as JPG files.

Now use MS Paint to change the image size. Depending on the version of paint you have, this is the windows XP version and this is how to do it in Windows 7

  • Unfortunately, shrinking any raster image down will result in a loss of clarity to a certain extent, depending on the detail - Text, for example, can be affected quite badly. As already mentioned, be sure to save the image as a .png as it's a lossless format.

I suggest that you talk to your printer again, because no decent litho or digital printer will specify a JPG. It is a lossy file format and both the text and the graphic will reproduce very poorly in print.
A JPG is fine for screen reproduction at 70dpi, but decent print requires a minimum 300dpi.
Most printers will prefer to receive a PDF created from the application file.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
