Microsoft office 2007 and itunes problems since re-install

My vista PC died yesterday and I had to do a re-install. It wouldn't boot up at all.
Of course, this is when I found out just how good my back ups were. Although I backed up my photo's online, the back ups that I made to an external hard drive seem to be all over the place and it's really difficult to ascertain what has been saved and what hasn't. I think I might have lost all my music.
So I was just wondering on the off chance (and i think I know the answer) if Itunes actually stores music for you? Was just wondering if I re-install if it will all magically appear again?!
The other issue is MS office 2007 which I had a trial version pre-installed. I purchased a product key a couple of years ago and everything was going well until the re-install yesterday. Now I have hunted high and low for the key but suspect it got lost in between house moves.
Is there anyway I can get the key from microsoft? I've had a little look around their website but think they want to charge me £45 to respond to my e-mail  I've tried the keyfinders and belarc but because I've done a re-install it can't find Office at all.

how were you backing up? if you were using a program then you may need to use that same program to restore your stuff.
if you bought the music from itunes store you can redownload it in the 'Purchased' section, most other websites you can also redownload music from (eg mflow/amazon/hmv), if you didn't then you can recover music from the iPod itself just search on the internet for it.
if you bought the office product key online and had it emailed to you chances are it is still in the webmail (provided you are an archiver not deleter) just log into your email and search for 'office product key'0
