Epson DX8450 Not recognizing Cartridges.

This printer has worked well on compatible carts for some years but started yesterday playing up!

First of all the cyan blue cart was not recognized. I replaced this with another compatible and it charged the ink ok but then the magenta colour cart was not recognized !

Unfortunately I have no further carts available at present ( have ordered some!
Is there a simple work around to get printer operational?

It won't allow me to get into the maintenance menu to see ink levels or make any other adjustments.

I have done a restore but no good, and then switching off and on but still a stalemate exists!

Wonder if the problem isnt the cartridges at all, but the INK PAD, of course that would depend on how much you use the printer.

Sometimes the little computer chips on compatible cartridges can confuse the printer.

One way that sometimes resolves the problem can be to remove all of the cartridges at the same time - put them on something sensible in case some ink drips out.

Leave them out for about 10 seconds so the printer is no longer being sent 'funny' signals to confuse it.

Put all the inks back in and hopefully it will be working again. Be aware that this trick doesn't always work. PC Ink.
