EDF online saver V7. When can i switch to avoid cancellation fee?

Options
I know their is a £30 per fuel cancellation fee on the EDF onlinesaver V7.
But when can i start the switching process? do i have to wait untill the 31st Dec? or can i start it before then?

After using comparison site i would like to switch today to Npower gofix 8, theres £92 cashback on Topcashback (end in 1 day) and a £100 discount off your bill after 12 months but i fear its to early to switch.

I,m on the same tariff as you and we are tied in until 31st Dec. This OS7 tariff ends at the end of December anyway.

Thanks for pointing out the cashback because i,m on the look out for a deal as well.

Trouble is i,m not keen on joining Npower.

It's too early to start switching and not pay the termination fee. End of this month or so should do it.

Just checked my contract and you are correct.

Tied in until 31st Dec so too early as you say.

Im in the same boat, is it a case of not being able to apply to switch until 31 december or is there a notice period meaning i could look to switch around beginning of december?

I'm in the same boat. My tariff ends 31st December, but the £95 cashback ends in 2 days with Npower!

I thought switching takes roughly 6 weeks?

  • I started my switch yesterday...

SHOULD take 4-6 weeks in total....
Hopefully that is after the cooling off period...

Knowing EDF they will probably make everything go super efficiently and my transfer will go through on the 30th December so I have to pay the early exit fees :o
    1. Depending on the supplier you have a 'cooling off period' of between seven and 14 days, just in case you change your mind about wanting to transfer energy supplier.
    2. Your new supplier will contact you to confirm the date your new service will commence. This process usually takes between 28 and 45 days.
So hopefully that means I am safe :j

You can switch now, because it takes 4-5 weeks-you will not go on supply with the new provider before 31/12.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
