Exploiting Christmas at the supermarket?

I always buy my non perishable items over the next few weeks, i normally go to sainsburys on Xmas Eve first thing in the morning for fresh veg, fridge items etc, but last year i had some vouchers for M&S so went there at 8am..... could not move
I ended up leaving with nothing and heading to sainsburys!!
I have thought about popping out for the last shopping hour, but i just dont think i can face the crowds :cool:0 -
I'm going to have to give this a whirl as I don't get back from my holz until 23 Dec, I'm so not gonna miss the build up to Christmas but I'm already dreading the shops on Christmas Eve :eek:0

I'm sincerely hoping there aren't huge crowds and queues this year. Like the OP said, we're definitely moving away from a huge buying spree at Christmas. A few gifts for children and some nice food then really enjoy seeing friends and family.
I'm amazed at the huge trolleys filled to the brim (mainly with a load of junk) that some people have. Hopefully this year people will be sensible with their money and not rack up big bills for January.
Sorry to stray off-subject a bit but If you have the time/energy to get bargains that can be frozen then go for it. I doubt I'll be joining you.0 -
i worked in a supermarket for nearly 7 years so did 6 christmas eves, bargains were there to be had but it was disorganised chaos, not something i plan on doing this year, the smart money this year is on parking in the town centre (i.e over the road from the supermarket as very few shops will be open) and walking down the hill or through the town centre, done that before now haha. christmas traditions here are go and visit fiance's mum's grave, chill out then go to see fiance's family at night, my parents coming round xmas dayWho remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0

you think people will buy less a si dont, there will always be people who will buy alot despite the shops closing for what 2 days, ive never understood the mentality behind going stupidly crazy and buying more food than normal and getting all upset if sprouts or any veg are out of stock.0 -
check if your asda is open boxing day if not definately go on xmas eve, late as you can, all fresh food and drink with a sell by/use by date of xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day will be greatly reduced to shift it.
