Claiming HB with sub-tenants

The contract on my house has recently changed with someone moving out and I have filled the room temporarily, as the new tenant is only staying for 2 months it didn't seem worth going through the estate agent to put them on the contract (£130 non refundable fees) however I claim housing benefit and this affects my claim, I was wondering if I would be able to declare him as a sub-tenant with his own contract separate to ours and take that in with my changed contract. Would that work, I cant not declare them but if he is not on the contract how do I declare him to make sure my benefits are worked out properly?
Sorry for the ramble and I'm not entirely sure I have explained it right but any advise you can offer would be appreciated.

How would that work? do I need a contract for him, proof that he is paying something towards the rent? At the moment there are 4 of us in the house, 3 on the contract and one lodger, there is only me claiming housing at the moment and I still dont have the new contract. It is all very confusing.0

Yes, but it took them nearly 6 months to process my original claim, it has only recently been approved. I tend to worry about things more than I should.0
