Claiming HB with sub-tenants

The contract on my house has recently changed with someone moving out and I have filled the room temporarily, as the new tenant is only staying for 2 months it didn't seem worth going through the estate agent to put them on the contract (£130 non refundable fees) however I claim housing benefit and this affects my claim, I was wondering if I would be able to declare him as a sub-tenant with his own contract separate to ours and take that in with my changed contract. Would that work, I cant not declare them but if he is not on the contract how do I declare him to make sure my benefits are worked out properly?

Sorry for the ramble and I'm not entirely sure I have explained it right but any advise you can offer would be appreciated.

How would that work? do I need a contract for him, proof that he is paying something towards the rent? At the moment there are 4 of us in the house, 3 on the contract and one lodger, there is only me claiming housing at the moment and I still dont have the new contract. It is all very confusing.

why are you worrying? presumably you are still claiming the same as before the other guy left, one out one in.

Yes, but it took them nearly 6 months to process my original claim, it has only recently been approved. I tend to worry about things more than I should.
