Pipex threatening letters despite cancelled account

I cancelled my broadband account with them months ago. They have confirmed over the phone and even by email. They are sending me letters demanding payment with threatenning letters. I am fed up on phoning them to tell them to P* off. The last time I phoned they just answered the phone and the operator was laighing on the phone for 20 secs (chatting to his call centre neighbour presumably) then put the phone down.
They are now not returning my emails - though from past experience I guess I should them a minimum of 2 months to reply.
