Hiya
Going to Glasgow for a midweek break the week before xmas, staying 2 nights.
The first day I'm planning a wonder round the shops and both evenings are taken up with St George's square/cinema/meals etc
But what can we do with them on the 2nd day? We won't have a car and the boys are 13 and pretty energetic
Any ideas gratefully received
Many Thanks x

Glasgow is full of museums, I'm sure at least one of them could be of interest. What sort of things are they in to? The museums are easy to get to by using public transport, and most are free. There is also the Science Centre, but you need to pay for that.
Rather than going to the cinema (you can do that anywhere), why not look into going to the theatre or concert hall? Christmas usually brings a few good shows around and you might be able to find something to suit you all.0 -
If you look on a website called www.netmums.com and pick Glasgow as your local area you'll find loads of ideas for indoor and outdoor places to go as well as details as events. There's also a Noticeboard where you can ask local mums too0

The new Transport Museum or the Kelvingrove will hold kids interest for a good few hours.0

Another vote for the science centre. Great day out for the kids0

There is no such place in Glasgow as St George's Square!
There is George Square in the city centre. Named after King George III.
There is St George's Cross an couple of miles away at the top of Maryhill.
I recomend the Science centre, Transport Museum, City bus tour (you can take in most of the above mentioned plus kibble palace, GOMA, Museum of Religious Art an Life (not as boring as it sounds), Burrel collection, etc.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

.
Actually, St Georges Cross is at the BOTTOM of Maryhill, I live there
OP, Yes, good bets are the Science Centre, or the new transport museum. Also around Christmas, they usually have an ice skating rink set up in George Square.0 -

That's a matter of perspective. I put the top because it's nearer the city centre.
I just thought if weather is poor and your budget is up to Xscape at Braehead might interest your boys.

It would be nice if the OP came back and responded to this, at least that way it'd be possible to narrow down or tailor the suggestions accordingly.0

Good idea, it's not cheap, but it's very entertaining.adouglasmhor wrote: ».

Thanks everyone,I don't get that much time online to reply although I do have a quick read ;-)
Sorry I knew the square had something to do with George (sons name) and presumed it was st George
Will have a look at the science place, we are staying at the travel lodge in the city center so I'm sure we could get to it,
What actually is xscape? Is it easy t get to on a bus?
Thanks again xxx0
