Daily Thread Sat 12th November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 12th November This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,
Thanks for starting the thread CAT-SMITH. Been up since 4.10 DGD woke at 11pm 1.00am 3am and then 4am, couldn't get back to sleep so came down for a coffee. She kept asking for Mummy and little sister, first time she's ever done that.
I've put BM & WM on. Don't know what's for dinner as brain hasn't kicked in yet.
DNephew is coming to help DH strip the old roof off and replace with the new one today, I have taken everyones advice and have deceided I just can't lift the tile sheets they are so heavy. So today will be spent cooking and freezing meals for the coming week. Lunch for DH and DN will be chilli jacket pots and endless supplies of coffee and hm cake throughout the day.
Off to read y/days thread.
Hope you all have a good weekend.x0 -
Morning all
I've been up since daft o'clock too. Had a bit of the lurgy this week - I'll call it a cold but its not quite. Sore head/throat/chest a cough when I lay down and feeling very drained but I think that's more due to broken sleep.
Had a lovely evening last night, sat and talked with DH about nothing and everything and it was great! It's easy to forget in the humdrum of everyday life how lucky we are to have each other. Anyway DH is working today and then tonight so I have the kids, I have a mystery shop to do ater lunch but it's one of my favourites so I dont mind, need to meal plan and do a list then pick up what I need. Cancelled the online shop this week as I don;t think i need much and I have to go out anyway so it seemed a bit pointless.
Will catch up on this weeks dailys today at some point but hope everyone is as well, warm and happy as they can be xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning all
Wet & misty here this morning, the milkman's running late as he hasn't delivered yet, I have lots of milk in so it's not a problem. BIL & his son are visiting today, helping hubby finish the gazebo, he made a start yesterday & it's looking good. I shall be cooking a huge breakfast for them all & making copious amounts of tea.
DD visited yesterday & left me some info on self harming, it's something we come up against at work as first aiders, we have asked for training, but been refused as 'it isn't something we should deal with'. This is true, it should be dealt with by our pastoral care team, but is there isn't anyone free we are often sat with a self harmer for anything up to an hour!
Plans for today include clearing out the corner of the living room where all my wool is & washing the kitchen floor.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all, before and after!
Well, I fell off the OS (and Money Saving) wagon for a bit there and, as a result, I'm going to be short of funds for the next month or so. Just what I need coming up to Christmas but it's entirely my own fault. I've not bought anything big but I've been having way too many expensive 'treats' and conveniences. It stops as of now.
Today is all about getting Back to Basics for me so we're talking menu planning (based on what I've already got in) and budgeting (based on what I need rather than what I want). I have an itch to knit and want to watch the Remembrance Service from the Royal Albert Hall tonight - I think the two will go together beautifully.
Hope everyone else has a good day.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning all, well it's Evening here!
Still in NZ, my friend's wedding was yesterday and was absolutely amazing. The weather was gorgeous. Ceremony was held in a botanical garden, and reception in a wineryeveryone had a great time, and not too hungover today. The happy couple went off on honeymoon at 2am (!) we waved them off then went to bed. It was a surprise for the bride, the groom organised it all. They are going on an island cruise from Oz.
Me and my American friend are still staying in their house, she leaves tomorrow night, and I leave Monday morning. Next stop Singapore for 2 days then I'm back in the UK on Thursday. TBH I'm looking forward to getting home, missing my man, my home comforts, and fed up of living out of a suitcase :rotfl: But I've had an awesome trip
Today we had a lazy day, my friend's brother and his GF came over and we watched reality tv, dozed on sofa and have just ordered pizza. All of my friend's family and friends have been so welcoming to us :A
Hope all is well with everyone

Morning everyone
Not sure what the weather's doing as haven't looked out yet. DH woke early when he got up he woke me, so now drinking second coffee of the day!
Dinner last night was toad in the hole, mash, garlic spring greens, carrots, baked courgettes and onion gravy. Haven't really decided on today's menu will wait and see how the day goes, have a few jobs to do etc. Didn't manage to get DW stacked and put on last night so did that this morning, did remember to put WM on so will put washing on the line once I'm showered and dressed.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, got all the washing up to date except the last load which were the boys school uniforms etc, hoping to get that load dry on the line today, did ironing, checked through xmas prezzies already bought and realised that I have more than I realised, 2 x puzzles arrived and are much better quality than I expected so all in all very pleased. Did food shop and got over £13.00 deducted with vouchers etc so more than happy with that, have menu planned for this next week, spent yesterday afternoon baking/cooking, I made mince pies, twinks, and choc brownies - so tins are full again - at the moment!!
We may have takeaway at some point this weekend, but not sure if I can be bothered with it, last week it arrived and we were some of the order missing and coz we're a little way out of town it takes so long for them to come back didn't bother ringing them to complain, not sure I want to waste my money like that anymore!! Oh get me, this OS is really working!!! Will spend some time this weekend organising/researching xmas prezzies - want to see if my MrT vouchers can be utilised for prezzies etc.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.
