DLA is to help with extra expenses incurred by disability and to help you be more independent,my feeling is that if it helps you to do some work then that's good surely?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Yes it is good. But disabled people are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
If they do work and claim DLA it is viewed that their disability and needs seem to switch off for the time they are working and therefore are perceived as not having the needs to trigger a successful DLA claim. This is despite the fact that the DWP herald DLA as being payable if you work are in training or do not work. Surely a trades description matter there?!?
In fact the Job Centre cheekily offer a "wealth" calculation for unemployed disabled people to see if they would be better off in work and INCLUDE DLA as part of the calculation and also any WTC that may be claimable. Yet the DWP then question the DLA claim when the person starts work blowing the "wealth" calculation out of the water. This could be a reduced rate of DLA or removal completely which stops the WTC so the "wealth" calculation is pile of horse manure.
If disabled people don't work then they are seen as scroungers that should get off their backsides.
You just can't please people.0 -

Yes, I understand what you are saying, my son gets DLA as he is really quite unwell and struggles to go to college. I myself gave up a uni course because I was too ill to go due to looking after him, so i am a scrounging carerBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
