Pick a number between 1 and infinity. That is effectively what you are asking us to do.
Thanks in advance for any advice

advice on investments is a regulated activity. You wont get advice here and shouldn't anywhere on any internet forum. What you get is comment, discussion and some opinion. Some of which will be right, some of which will be wrong, most of which is an opinion which could be right or could be wrong but only time will tell and even if it turns out wrong it could still be right.

For a discussion on what is best we need to know what type of investments you are looking at, what risk you want to take, what knowledge you have, what timescale you have. However, more important, what objectives do you have for this money?
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I would also want to know if you had pensions, and if you had any equity exposure too.

    What are you investing for?

Do you mean investing, or do you mean saving?

There is no way anyone can make any suggestions without knowing your investment timescale. Whether you'll be continuing to invest is also pretty important.

Are your ISAs in cash, S&S, or both? If S&S then you presumably already have some kind of investment plan/knowledge and there are only a few wrinkles when it comes to extending these to unwrapped investments.

My wife doesn't pay tax either, so we use her personal allowance for some interest/income earning assets, and the rest for holdings that pay dividends. Zero/basic rate tax payers pay no extra tax on dividend income BUT there is no source of dividend income that doesn't suffer from volatility of both your capital and those dividends.

There are things you can do to manage this volatility BUT investment timescale and your attitude to risk are both critical. The latter is an odd beast, and TBH I'm not sure anyone can understand their attitude to risk/volatility without understanding where it comes from and how different assets interact in counter-intuitive ways regards both risk and return.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
