Ticket cancellation rights

Advice wanted please

My other half booked tickets on the internet for a murder mystery evening, and part of the Ts & Cs was that there was no cancellation allowed.

The next day she decided she wanted to cancel and emailed them asking for a refund

5 days later and I'm preparing to email & write to them myself, stating that despite their Ts & Cs we had a seven day cancellation period as part of the distance selling regulations (DSR).

Am I right or am I missing an exclusion from the DSR?

All comments welcome EXCEPT for those stating that we shouldn't book things and then change our minds

Cheers

You are correct in that you are missing an exclusion.

Contracts for accommodation, transport, catering or leisure services, which are arranged for a specific time or date - for example, train, airline or concert tickets, or hotel bookings - are not covered by Distance Selling Regulations

Tickets such as this are specifically excluded from the DSR.

One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

  • If you cannot cancel you could always still go? At least then you don't forfeit both the money and the meal!
