Today: Fish Pedicure £5 in Croydon!!!

I was in the Whitgift Centre today and there is an offer on, whereby you can have a fish pedicure for £5 and stay as long as you want.

Naturally, I had to oblige.

    NHS say

Groups not recommended to have a fish pedicure
The agency also says fish pedicures are not recommended for people that may increase the risk of infection or pose an infection risk to other clients. This includes people who:
    • have had their legs waxed or shaved in the previous 24 hours (they may have tiny cuts that increase infection risk)
    • have any open cuts, wounds, abrasions or broken skin on the feet or lower legs
    • have an infection on the feet (including athlete’s foot or a verruca)
    • have psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis affecting the feet or lower legs
    • are diabetic (which leads to increased risk of infection)
    • have a blood-borne virus such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV
    • have an immune deficiency due to illness or medication
    • have bleeding disorders or take anticoagulant medication (for example, heparin or warfarin)
  • free aids test with each purchase........

    And people pay for this!!!!

To have the skin on their feet eaten by starving fish that can carry all sorts of germs from eating other peoples manky feet.

Any fish spa should have a special treatment licence http://www.croydon.gov.uk/contents/departments/business/pdf/599320/1096978/a-z1.pdf

If it has been checked as safe and hygienic it will have a license if not I would not touch with a bargepole :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Not really a case of having a license, these treatments have been shown / reported (rightly or wrongly and take what the media say with a huge pinch of salt ) to be iffy to say the least because of the amount of bacteria in the fishes mouths.
I really would not like the idea of a fish nibbling on someones feet and then moving on to the next person no matter how good the hygiene of the establishment is.
