Meter reading

I signed to Brit Gas around 6 years ago. During that time they have never read the electric meter. They must be paying to have meters read by Metering Services and I would assume that they offset this against my bill, so in effect I will pay towards having my meter read, as this has not been done surely I am paying for a service and not receiving that service. Am I not entitled to a refund or reduction in my bill?
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Nope. You are agreeing to pay an amount for the electricity, not for any 'extra services'. That's like saying the Morrisons is Leominster is just down the road from the Cadbury factory, yet they charge people in the Morissons in York the same for a Dairy Milk, so I am not getting a service built into the price (long distance haulage) and want a discount off my next shopping bill.

Also if you ring them up they will book an appointment for your meter to be read, so the service is available for you,should you wish to use it. If you make a complaint as well, they can look into why you are being missed out.

you can submit one on line if you want an accurate bill, only takes a minute or two and much handier than having meter readers coming round IMO.
