My PC no longer recognises my Canon Ixus 80IS camera.

Recently my computer (vista) has not recognised my digital camera which should launch Canon zoombrowser. I have tried several times uninstalling and reintalling the software, but it still doesn't work.
The camera works perfectly well on my old laptop (XP)
I have tried Googling the fault, but found nothing helpful.
Any ideas? Please bear in mind my computing knowledge is very limited, so reply in easy to understand lingo, as if you were giving instructions to a chimp.:D
Cheers
Adey.

Have you tried plugging it into another USB port? 'Not recognised'? What message is actually given?0

I found this on the net:
1 - open regedit
2 - goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\C CALib8
3 - double click on DependOnService
4 - delete the second line "SSDPSRV"
5 - close regedit
6 – open up services (start->run>services.msc)
7 – stop the SSDP Discovery Service
8 – done
C CALib8 is on my laptop but not on my PC. *confused*In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -
I'm getting no message at all. The USB port and cable are OK and the camera is OK it is detected and working fine on my laptop.
So perhaps nothing is wrong at all. It could just be that Autorun is disabled. Maybe you just need to launch the program manually after installing the camera.0 -
click on the start button
click "computer"
see what drives are there if theres a removable drive there then its probably the camera
double click on it0 -
Start/launch Canon Zoombrowser manually;
Start Menu
Is it visible in Start Menu? If so, click it, if not, open;
Programs and look for it here.
Do you just use Zoombrowser to copy pics from the camera to the PC? You do realise you can do that with Windows Explorer, don't you? You don't HAVE to use the Canon program0 -

Zoombrowser is on the start menu I can open it but not manually download images from the camera it says the computer cannot detect a camera. When I try to use windows to download the photos nothing happens either.
When the camera is turned on I've gone into devices and it is shown with a warning sign next to it, when I click on the camera details a box comes up saying:
Windows cannot start this hardware devce because it's configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -

Remove the camera.
Uninstall the Driver via the Device Manager. Uninstall the ZoomBrowser.
Download, install and run CCleaner
Reboot.
Open CCleaner, Click on 'Registry' and then 'Scan For Issues'. When complete. You can select all(if necessary) and choose 'Fix Issues'. Choose 'Yes' to create a backup.
Reboot.
You can plug the camera in again and let the Drivers install and install the latest ZoomBrowser.
Hope it works for you.0
