Parking Ticket..?!

I'm a bit worried as a mate dropped me off at the airport door as well as dropping off some other friends I was seeing off on the plane then drove off saying as the sign said 'Dropping off only' best to pick me up in 10mins. I came out before 10 mins and waited for my friend to turn up then jumped in the car. However, as we drove off a man was jotting down the car number plate with a notepad. We stopped and asked where the signs were saying there would be a fine as we couldn't and still can't see any and were not causing an obstruction and practically moving all the time. He said we would get the summons in the post. Will my friend get a ticket? Can they just send a summons like that without the chance to pay or appeal? The car is registered on insurance with 2 other named drivers. I don't know if it was a private company or not, the coat just said Traffic Warden, possibly sub-contracted. I feel bad for asking my mate to drop me off!

Don't feel bad, just come back when you have some concrete information. It does sound like the usual airport begging letter will be coming your way but that's nothing to be worried about. Once checked to ensure its a private parking company then the advice will be to totally ignore, appeals are always rejected and they cost the ppc less as he now has an address to write to without paying dvla.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Come back when you have the invoice.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

It sounds like your mate is the Registered Keeper of the vehicle, not you... so when he/she gets his invoice (it is not a fine or a summons) then BOTH come back.
We will then tell you why you can just ignore them!0 -
Thanks. Yes, if it's a PPC then that'll be easily resolved, we'll just ignore. If it's any other than that I may need some advice! Only Police or Council issued tickets must be paid I think it is..and isn't there some rule or law that states for a ticket to be valid it must be put on the vehicle at the time of the offence?..
I thought I'd post this before hand and try and get as much info as poss' before anything arrives in the post. I know how little time is given to pay!0
