E.O.N only 1 hour off peak on Economy 7?

I have discovered recently that the "off Peak" on my Economy 7 tarrif is only coming on for 1 hour! (Another reason I am up to see if the off peak light comes on again during the night)
I had to fight to get a manual meter installed a year ago as the teleswitch(radio) controlled was temperamental and left us without any heat last year in December!
The winter times for here are (23.30 - 1.30 and 3.30 - 8.30)
But the light has only gone on from 23.30 - 12.30!
I am not even sure how long it has been going on, and although I gained access to the electricity meter today, it didn't make anything clearer as it just has the day and night readings.
As far as I know it was okay at least a month ago.
I am worried as it means I am being charged 6 times the amount overnight for my storage heaters, which I was told only stored heat on off peak periods, and since I have the washing machine only set to come on when the off peak usually kicks in, am worried my bills are going to be through the roof, I am so upset as I really cannot afford it as it is and I'm being careful.
I will be contacting Eon, on their outrageously expensive phone line in the morning, but was wondering if anyone else had this issue with their off peak? Or they have know of any changes that have come about as I haven't been informed?
Thanks

Storage heaters should be connected to a curcuit that is only active when the night rate is active which means that you wont be caught out with them coming on during the day rate.
Have you checked the meter this morning? Switching times do vary to ensure whole streets/area/ dont switch at the same time and put too large a surge on the network.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Where do you live?
The actual hours that Economy 7 operates are different in each Electricity DNO region. It does not depend on which company supplies your electricity.
Economy 7 runs for 7 hours, but I believe in some DNO areas, it is not a single 7 hour period and it depends on the meter that is installed.

I will be contacting Eon,....in the morning
I would strongly recommend that before contacting Eon you take daily readings for a week of both night and day meter registers so that you have some "evidence".
You post doesn't appear to say but storage heaters correctly connected to the "restricted hours" circuit and charged for 1 hour would be at best tepid in the morning. You may well be "cold" but are not being charged "6 times the amount". And where are you getting "6 times" from?0
