Supermarket shopping online

Iceland used to do online ordering but I don't think they do any more
that was free over £25 but I think you have to buy in store now.
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I use Ocado (Waitrose) for my online shopping and have done for several years now. If you spend over £70 delivery is free, the delivery slots are 1 hour, and the quality is excellent.
I initially used Tesco, but got fed up with poor sellby dates and lots of out of stock stuff. The number of things that had a "use by" date if the date if delivery was shocking, especially if I was having a delivery at 10pm!
I tried Sainsburys a couple of times and also found them poor. I recently tried Asda because they had a good deal on a particular wine I like. They were hopeless. The wine was wrong, there was loads of out of stock items, they delivered the wrong tea...absolutely awful.
So now I just stick with Ocado. I think I've complained once. I had some mushrooms which had been put in a bag with some tins and were squashed, they refunded me immediately.
I think you may also get a "first order" voucher when you sign up with Ocado.0 -
DawnW wrote:I did it for 3 weeks, thought it a brilliant idea, as I work FT, and less opportunity to impulse buy. It was fine the first week, really late the second(they promised me a voucher by way of compensation which did not materialise till i complained), and totally rubbish the third. Initially they delivered just half my order, then returned with 'the rest'. They sent me a really badly dented tin of chick peas:eek: really badly damaged tins can be dangerous, and I have thrown it away, leaking shampoo all over everything, a sliced loaf instead of bread flour
AND the previous day's paper (Hello, Friday's paper, or at least a bit of it - on Saturday at full price anyone??). This was Sainsburys. I was not pleased, and will be going to Morrisons this Saturday!
I had the same experience. First was fine, second was not too bad. Third never turned up and I had to wait two days before I was in when they could deliver it  So I had to go to the shops to get stuff for tea the days until the delivery turned up. When it turned up (late with a very grumpy driver) stuff was dented, up to its date with NO warnings at all. And only half of it was delivered and I had to ring up and complain and was told "yes the rest is here in the shop" - that's really a great help to meThen when they finally delivered the second half of the shopping some bits were still missing and I'd already been given 4 of the late vouchers and so rang customer services and said I didn't want any more, I wanted store vouchers - which they won't give - so they refunded me some extra money.
Six months on and I decided to try again. I ordered a load of frozen stuff and offer food that I knew I could survive a few days without and didn't really matter what they picked as it was frozen veg etc. It all turned up - nearly an hour late - but I got everything I ordered with no substitutions.
So I think the moral is to order stuff you don't urgently need, stuff that's frozen or tinned so that it doesn't matter too much if they are looking at dates when they pick it, and order it for a time when you know you will be in for about 2 hours AFTER your time slot :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I use Tesco regularly - no car here either. I'm very happy with Tesco and have never had a problem with dates. The odd substitution or item not available but I haven't found this happens too often.
I like being able to write notes - I always ask for green banana's and they've never let me down
I've used Sainsbury's and found their one hour slots better, and they give you a £10 voucher if they are late. However Tesco's always seems to have a slot that I want so I only use them now.
I'd try Ocado but you cannot pay online with Solo and that's really annoyed me - I'm not buying food with my credit card! It's a shame though because with Ocado when you choose your delivery slot you have the option of a 'green van' if available - if they are already delivering in your area at that time. I'd only spend more anyway
It works well for me because the only supermarkets that I can get to without a car are Sainsburys (two of them with the most annoying layout ever, and they're both small) or Marks & Spencer, money money money!0 -
hi, i always do my with tesco and they are always very good and have always arrived within the time slot, tried asda once and it was a nightmare might have just been a one off but have never tried them again0

I try tescos every 6 months or so and every time I do it reminds me why I didn't carry on with it in the first place!!!
Might just be the store they pick from but the substitutions are diabolical and I too have had part orders delivered one day and the rest turn up a few days later..with no form of compensation!
Have to reiterate what was said before, dont order anything you thing you need within a few days (I have ordered plain chocolate for a celebration pudding and been sent white and nappies when only have 2 left to be sent none at all) , anything that will get squished or damaged easily, and be prepared to use things you wouldn't normally when you get bits of someone elses order instead of your own!!!
I cant remember them being late but I know that they are always within the last 10 mins of the time slot! On the plus side though, the drivers always seem pleasant and friendly!
My neighbours use sainsburys week in week out and have done for the past 3 years. No complaints at all.
I'm about due for another online order actually...wonder how they'll fair this time!!!0 -
I have a delivery coming from Sainsburys today. Have used them in the past and they are ok. Each time they have always been late (but give you a voucher for money off next time).
Have to agree about sell by dates..they are not very good. Only using them today out of convenience.
I think next time I will try Asda or Tesco.
It is handy to get them delivered if you don't drive.:hello: Never say Never :smileyhea0
