ipod nano repair

This is going to be a long one. Sorry if I waffle...
I've recently purchased a 2nd hand 2gb nano off ebay without properly reading the description (completely my fault - I'm hanging my head in shame as I write this). Needless to say I've bought a faulty one and need to try and repair it now so that it is useable. It's outside the warranty with Apple.
The problem is that when the nano arrived it wouldn't charge - the battery seemed dead and when I used an ac adapter (purchased seperately) the nano worked fine until the power cable was removed. When I plugging in the power in I a full battery icon appeared on the screen.
When running diagnostic mode I ran a power check which told me that current = 0. I therefore assumed that the problem was a dead battery which I replaced with a new one yesterday. Following that the Ipod ran off the battery for a couple of mins so I went to bed happy with a job well done....
...until I got up this morning. Now the ipod is doing what it did before I changed the battery i.e. will not charge, says battery full when I insert the adapter, and gives current=0 in diagnostic mode.
Does anyone have any ideas please? I really don't want to admit defeat by either relisting on ebay or calling out an engineer but I suppose I may have to give in sooner or later!

Have a look at the Apple battery replacement site HERE. They replace the ipod with a new or refurb one, its up to you to see if its worth the money though.
I have nothing better to do!!!!

You can also resell it on eBay - faulty ones command a surprising amount of money.0

Sorry timbo coundn't resist.
Frank you've hit the nail on the head. It's idiots like me that drive the price up. When bidding I honestly thought I was buying a fully working ipod because I didn't read the description (a mistake that I won't make again).
Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll check out the apple site and see what they can do - chaddy thanks for the url I'll check it out.
I'll let you know how I get on.0 -
If it is just the battery needing replaced it is 'fairly' easy to do - and the batteries are cheap to buy (few quid!!)Neil0

Thanks Jinj. I have tried replacing the battery and the new one worked for a while but still will not charge. I assume it must be the logic board. Now I'm debating whether to invest another £20 min on a logic board and see if that works or else try and resell on ebay to some other sucker who'll end up in the same situation I'm in now...
Any opinions?0 -
I'd repair it...if it works great...if it doesn't you can still eBay it I guess
