Hi
Has anybody ever travelled on the trans-siberian railway?
I tried to have a look using the search facility but it wasn't much help, I couldn't work out how to get it to search for both words & got loads of results about trans fats
I have been looking at a few website, and it seems that the best way to do it is to organise it yourself? - you can do tours at £1000 or more per person, or organise the trip yourself and pay about £250 for the train journey.
Does anybody have any tips, any ideas about the best place to start & end your journey, good places to stop? Moscow to Beijing sounds good, and it would be nice to spend a bit of time in both of those places money allowing....

Hi magentacafc,
Have you viewed the 'seat61' website that has some great info. I am planning the Trans-Mongolian for the coming summer - starting at St. Petersburg via Moscow and ending up in Beijing. At the moment I am trying to find if a contact in Russia can purchase the tickets instead of going through an agency and paying a (substantial) comission.
I expect to attempt the trip without a travelling partner as, especially during July and August, there will be many other non-Russians taking the same route.
I wish you success and look forward to any info. that you unearth.0
