Windows Installer Driving Me Mad...

Wonder if anyone can suggest how to resolve a small problem - every time I open Word or try to print a doc from word, Windows Installer tries to instal Windows 2000 SR-1. It always fails so I now just cancel it every time it starts, but is there anyway of stopping Installer from trying to instal it in the first place?

This usually means that the application requires something from the cd.
Have you not got the disc to put in, it will most likely not happen again after that.

I recently had a different problem with Windows Installer constantly running at startup, trying to install my CA firewall over and over again.
This was traced to a corrupt user account which was then recreated and all is now ok.

If you don't have the CD, try option 3..

You could try http://www.openoffice.org/ Microsoft Office equivalent but free and very good indeed.

Thanks all - I don't actually want it and can't remember trying to load anything which might have contained it - I just want rid of the bl00dy thing!! I'll try these links and see if I can sort it out from there. Cheers!!
