How did you choose your hairstyle?

Hi

I'm not getting married till next August, but have started to think about hairstyles etc. I don't have a clue, however, how to decide on a hairstyle.

I have very thin curly hair which just about hits my shoulders if left natural (it seems to be getting curlier) so doesn't actually look like its getting longer - even though I am growing it. :( When its straight its longer and I look very different.

can someone give me some advice as to how best to decide on what suits you????

Try finding the right hairdresser. Some are better at wedding do's than others. I have hair which sounds very similar to yours and I am using our neighbour! She is a trainee!!!! It may sound brave, but I am really pleased with her so far. We have chosen the colours (£30 for 3 with foils) and she has coloured it really well. Between now and March we will tweak it a little, just so it has a bit more 'pizazz' on the day. She has also suggested getting some clip in extensions. She often wears them and you really can not tell. My hair looks like there is quite a lot when down, but when you put it up you can tell how thin it is. She will colour them to the same colour as my hair and then when it is up you wont be able to tell. We will try lots of styles, but I know I want it up as mine gets messy when down, no matter what I do.

And my fail safe way of making sure it looks ok? She is invited to the evening do....

Hi Hadley i had a google and found a few so have saved them,i have an inverted bob but had one side of my hair cut shorter than the other.my hairdresser is also a fmaily friend so she just trims a small amount off every 4-8 weeks.the one side is near enough touching my shoulder and the other side only a few cm behind.i want it all back so have to continue the growth even though its driving me mad.just have a google on hair styles or next time your in the salon ask to view some wedding hair style mags as they always have them in there.u will have a trial before hand anyway.its been yrs since ive had long hair so its going to be weird for me having it all back.my hair is a pain its straight and thin

    Hi,

I'm growing my hair, its really think and almost black. I've always had an image of how I want my hair to be (not crazy I promise!) and its always been long and wavy and down. However, I'm having to change this, because my hair is so thick I get really hot with it down, so I'm having it half up and still wavy and long.

    Hi,

I've been wondering this too, think I will have to have a look in some mags or something. As we are marrying abroad I've booked the hairdressers but the first time i'll see her is on the day. I'm told she is really good & has lots of ideas so I just hope she is & can do something good with it. I know it has to be up somehow as we are having a boat cruise after the wedding & if it's down it will blow all over & end up a mess. I've got a tira so just hope she can come up with something on the spot:eek:

So I believe some hair hits it's natural length and wont grow much more.

For me, I went with what I felt most beautiful and fun in. When my hair's straight I feel more glamorous and put together, but I don't think it suits my personality quite so much. I don't think it looks particularly nice when it's up and I couldn't afford a hairdresser on the day to do it properly anyway.

When my hair's curly and done nicely I feel happy and bouncy and it's also my natural style. The curls look nicer when it's longer so I grew it out for the wedding, making sure I got it cut regularly beforehand to keep it in good condition.

I'd go through pictures of what you look like on Facebook and find your best photo. What is your hair like in it?
  • it depends on your dress and the venue as well. When I had a fitting, I played around with my hair in the mirror a lot and decided then what I wanted the hairdresser to achieve. I didn't want down or half-up because the ends get scraggy. But my husband prefers it when I have it down! So decided on a swept to one side look, pinned up with the ends in curls. Had consultation with hairdresser and she recommended that I had a clip in extension put in for the day - and she sourced that for me. It looked fab!

If you have a regular hairdresser that you use, you could ask her what's possible and then go from there.

I can't decide! My hair is long, straight and naturally blonde and I nearly always wear it down.

I haven't chosen my dress yet so that may influence me, but I am torn between:
    • Chic Grace Kelly-esque updo (my style icon)
    • Half up half down with a bit of height like Kate Middleton's wedding hairdo
    • Loose and hippyish with flowers in it
    • Ponytail with a little backcombing and perhaps a hairband, 60s style
    Decisions!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not having a tiara but may have some kind of vintage style hair clip, loving the Jenny Packham Acacia ones atm. http://www.jennypackhamshop.com/products/acacia-i-silver

    Wanchai the tiara is stunning:)

I love the sound of hippyish hair with flowers in, but yesd I guess it will depend on your dress etc. :)
