Typical Woman!!
It simply CANNOT be too big, it's a TV...:j
Sacrifice something else and make room for it.
Hey!
Really it is bigger than i need plus i'd like more space in the room there is only one suitable wall & at the mo it takes up the whole corner!
Plus i have back probs so would rather a smaller one i can put directly in front of the osfa0 -

this one is good but i'd prefer freeview HD and a smart tv if possible0 -
Philips has some LED television sets which have received good reviews in Which.0

esuhl - you answered your own question when you used the word 'generally'.
People get carried away with marketing rubbish about LED backlighting, and convince themselves that it's better without ever looking at an actual screen! If you're happy with your monitor, that's great (but it's a bit unfair to compare it with a 32" screen.
Clouding will have nothing to do with resolution, it'll be a physical manufacturing thing allowing some light to seep through resulting in an uneven picture. With CCFL, it would happen at the edges of the screen, but with LED backlights, if they're behind the screen and not just around the edge, it can happen anywhere. Don't go looking for problems if you're happy though, that's the slippery slope in avforums.com!0 -

Okay, I didn't exactly mean "resolution" - lossy compression is really what I was referring to. Such compression tends to divide the image up into larger and smaller squares, which I presume are approximations of pixel patterns that can be used in multiple points of an image (thus reducing file size). I was wondering if the inadequacies and artefacts created by such lossy compression distract the eye (or brain) from other inadequacies (such as clouding) which might be more apparent in a non-compressed high-resolution image.0 -
My mum had a 37" Sony Bravia last year (CFL) it has the wireless dongle functionality for iplayer stuff (not tried).
It is a nice set and looks good with a nice picture.
I almost had the 40" but ended up with a Panasonic plasma 42".
Size wise the 37" is noticeably smaller but fits her lounge better.
The plasma is a better picture IMO. Both are HD freeview but not sure this would be so noticeable on a 32" really, do you get any choice these days on high end brands?

Nah, the over compression (especially visible on low quality downloaded or streamed stuff, or some channels, especially with fast moving stuff, whilst it is distracting, is a completely separate issue. Clouding, specifically, would be most noticeable I guess on a black screen, which would show as grey patches. Don't go looking for it though!0

Ah, okay! Thankfully I can't notice any kind of clouding or other visual defect on my LED monitor (I couldn't resist looking!), so I either got a great value, good quality monitor... or my eyes are really screwed!0
