Hotpoint any advice?

Not sure what model you have, but according to the three rated Hotpoint Washer Dryers on the "Which Reports" their rating is below average and summed up as
"High creasing, poor rinsing, poor drying, poor brand reliability"
I was disappointed with Hotpoint as well - having recently bought their vented sensor Tumble Dryer - you are meant to be able to set and forget (i.e. programmes like cupboard dry, iron dry etc). It does NOT work accurately at all.
Now that I have signed up to the free 30 day trial for the Which Reports and had a good look at all the ratings - they say that Hotpoint's sensor mechanism is very poor.
However, I complained to Comet - whose customer service was absolutely brilliant (I corresponded by email - which was easier than sitting hanging on telephone) They offered to let me exchange it for another make. Admittedly I had only just bought it, it wasn't "faulty" as such but it certainly did not do what it said it did!!!
Just be persistent. At the price you paid you should certainly expect better.0 -

My warranty is 5 years on parts, it is activated. You only pay a call out charge, not labour which is £89, and so far I have not paid once, because the same fault reoccurred within 12 months...2 thremostats and within 14 days of them visiting a pump replacement, and then another 2 after this.
You do not have Sale of Goods rights against a manufacturer and I would check this with a senior adviser from Consumer Direct.
I work in consumer advice (and have done for years, all training full and up to date) although not with Consumer Direct, it's the next step along. I would put any money I had on a court case for faulty goods under the SoGA against the manufacturer being thrown straight out of court.0
