benefits could my sis be entitled to any

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone could help.. My sister is 22 yrs old and is currently studying in college 6 hours a week to finish her hairdressing level 2. She is currently working 22.5 hours a week over 3 days in the local hairdresses that she has been working in since starting her course, and the hairdresser is paying her £25.00 a day. she is not always needed for the 22.5 hours a week due to the owner only having her in when required.

As she is working over 16 hours she has been told she's not entitled to any jsa as a boost, is she entitled to anything else. she is living at home with my parents as she cannt afford to leave home

thanks in advance

As she is being paid £25 for 7.5 hrs work, this is £3.33 per hour.......Is this not below the NMW? or is you sister self employed?

    Or is she an apprentice?
  • originally she was on a level 2 apprentice hence the reason why after compoleting her second yr she wasn't qualified, however, after discussion with college it was aggreed as they only have 4 months of the course to complete to become qualified she could complete it as she wasn't signed up for the apprentiship in the end as forms where outstanding and safety checks etc. so her boss has taken it upon herslef to say £25 a day...
