Value of historical sums of money.

Hello everyone. Hope this is vaguely the right forum for perhaps an unusual request. I am interested in Family History and am looking at several old family wills. Can anyone tell me please if there is a website or some way of working out the value in today's terms of a historical sum of money from say 1885? Would appreciate any help or guidance and thanks in advance. Robin.
