Multiple accounts with ICESAVE

I currently have 5 ING accounts and would like to move to ICESAVE having waited long enough for ING to raise their rate.
Can you have multiple accounts with ICESAVE?
If so, can you set the additional one up like you could with ING, i.e. set up one account then log in and just add new accounts, or do you have to do a separate online application for each one?

Is this an attempt at money protection think if the bank goes kaput?
I.e. Covered by guarantee of 100% of first abc, 90% of next xyz etc...
Is that per account, or per institution?
5 accounts at one place seems odd.0 -
I've got two accounts with Icesave so they allow multiple accounts. Just follow the opening procedure like you did last time, say that you are an existing customer (I think you give them your acc no. or customer number), and ignore the section on setting up log-in details. My second account was opened in just a few days. Move the accounts and say good riddance to ING !0

It may be a reference to ING's 'pots'.Sillychuckie wrote:Is this an attempt at money protection think if the bank goes kaput?

-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I am rather hoping that ING will HAVE to raise rates in order to avoid an exodus of customers to other savings institutions. Or are we ING savers subsidising ING's new mortgage arm????0

I only want multiple accounts so I can keep money allocated for different things separate, for example tax, holiday, etc. I know I could manage this on a spreadsheet with just a single account but having multiple just makes things easier. With ING it was doddle to just add another account.
I'm sure the FSA protection is per customer, so it is not an attempt to increase my protection.
I won't hold my breath for ING to up their rate.
Thanks for the info.0 -
just thought i'd bump this thread instead of making a new one!
so if you open multiple accounts as the OP said, do all the accounts appear under the same customer login details?0 -
Yes, if you tick you are an existing customer when you apply for the second account.0
