For my first wedding to keep the trasport cost down we went to Budget rent-a-car & rented a "luxury" car (a merceedes), this was 10 years ago but it only cost £50 for 48 hours hire. Even allowing for massive price rises maybe a short-term hire cost split between 3 of them would be cheaper than a limo? Depending how many freinds need to fit in could something like this work? You could put in iced drinks etc in the back & play the right type of music & just be the chauffer (not mum at this point!), opening & closing doors to them etc? I know it's not the same as a limo but could it be worked as a compromise?Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Get in touch with the local wedding hire people, what about a coach and horses or something like that? Might do you a deal if it isn't a saturday or contact a local enthusiasts club and see if they will do it for nothing or a donation, if you tell local paper they might get some publicity out of it. Worth a try!0

At the school where I previously taught, the Year 11s would turn up in all sorts of things for their Prom .. and they just kept trying to outdo each other; fire engines, wheelbarrows, a London bus, even a motorised sofa! How they got hold of them I don't know! That's Numberwang!0

My dd went in a soft top plurial as she was already so excited that a expensive car would not have added anything. Do any of your friends or relatives not have a nice car. They would probably run her down there for a bottle of wine. have just done my dd 18th birthday and put happy birthday and the date on some of the party poppers and her photo on others. Also printed personalised labels on the computer to go on the wine and champagne bottles i used 8 to a sheet of a4 and a third of each label for the poppers.0

Hi
I was in Debenhams at the weekend. Loads of gorgeous dresses still available with 70%off in the sale.
There are a few available online:

Loads more if you can get into one of their stores though.
Hope your daughter has a great time.0 -
All the dresses less than a tenner and some only 3 quid in clearance at tk maxx today. Some were fenn wright manson which is really expensive and very pretty.0

The enthusiasts club idea for transport is a good one... My FIL is part of a Harley Davidson Club and they regularly get requests such as this - most recently they escorted a bride to her wedding (they have those bikes with the proper seats on the back for comfort etc), I think there was 1 bike with the bride on, a couple with bridesmaids on and a few extra for escort and effect... all drivers/riders in full leather! Quite an entrance I would think! ;-)
They also recently took part in the soon to be released film about Lady Godiva...
I would imagine there are other types of transport clubs that may be willing to help for free or publicity - mopeds maybe, horse & traps? worth a look!0 -
Sadly there was no dresses that she liked or fitted her well at TK MAxx or Debenhams but I will keep going back.
Thank you all so much for the ideas..please keep them coming.
Googling for a few local clubs now for the transport0 -

what about hiring a sports car or a classic car? the kind you see for weddings. would it be cheaper. I would phone round a few wedding car type places and ask for a price for a one off journey. bet they'd be pleased to do an evening job.
or this even!
