British Gas Homecare

Hi all,

Just a quick question.... I want to switch my energy supplier away from British Gas. It the landlord has homecare with them. My question is, do you need to be a BG customer lying them for gas to get their homecare or am I free to switch?

Also, I have an energy smart monitor on the online saver 5 tarrif. If I cancel, will they charge me anything for the monitor??

First question, no you do not have to have gas from them to be a homecare customer, I have Homecare 200 and EDF supply my gas/electric.

Second, I doubt they will charge but do not really know.

online saver does carry a cancllation fee..... im 99% certain

The question was do they charge for the monitor.

However you have raised a point that the OP should be aware of if they do switch, ie factor in any exit penalties.

Was the monitor installed whilst you had the bill in your name, or was it there when you moved in?
If you did not order it, I seriously doubt they can charge you for leaving that service.

Online Saver does not carry a cancellation fee.
