I personally don't think they're worth the money, but then I've never had a scrap of bother with the guard on my v-slicer, so it's each to their own experiences I guess.0 -
We have a V slicer.... PLEASE be careful. Always use the safety guard.
My OH had wanted one of these for ages. Picked one up at a car boot. Used it a few times and then he was being flash with it one evening without the safety guard and sliced the top part of his finger.
Needless to say, a long wait at A&E.
Only I use it now, and ALWAYS with the safety guard.

It is the V Slicer that I meant by 'cheap mandoline'........... couldn't remember it's name.
Yes, be really careful.......... I am prepared to sacrifice the ends of the veg that have been mentioned for it's speed when doing loads of veg and the safety of stopping before I incorporate my fingers to the mix!!
Would love to be able to buy one of the really expensive ones though.0
