All I can say, and I'll try to be a little more serious than in my last post, is read the T&Cs very carefully, and ideally have someone who is a mechanic read them.

For example one policy I read only covered "all lubricated moving parts". What this means is that any parts which are not lubricated, or do not move, are not covered.

So you would not be covered for a head gasket failure, nor would you be covered for anything electrical, with the possible exception of electric window motors.

Another policy I read seemed quite generous, their marketing blurb highlighted their £2000 claims limit, which is rather high for a car warranty. It turned out in the small print that this limit reduces as the car gets older. For my car the claims limit was £250, which was less than the cost of the bloody warranty!
  • Why do people keep coming and asking the same question repeatedly, after getting the same negative answers ? If they are not going to listen and accept that most people feel warranties are a rip off, they just go waste money on the damn warranty and don't bother coming crying when the fraudsters don't pay out (as we told you multiple times).

Have you had any dealings with warranty works? Because people have had a bad experience with a few named warranty companies does that make everyone bad? All I asked was has anyone had any experience with warranty works! You had your say, and thanks for that but take your frustration out on someone else

They're charging even less than the companies that people are complaining about. Do you really think they're going to be wonderful?

    Really?

If so I have a bank account in Nigeria and could use your help getting the funds from it.

Hardly necessary, I have cash in the bank for repairs.

Just strange that people come asking again and again, wanting to hear that they are good value, when all the evidence is to the contrary.

Why ask if you can only accept one answer ?
  • Its the same as extended warranties sold by certain electrical goods shops.., why would dealers/garages sell them unless there is a large commission/profit on the sale.., and would a large commision be payable if they were value for money? They sell them with large commissions because they aren't worth the money you pay.., you won't get it back.., if there is a repair issue with your car, its more likely to be decided its normal wear and tear rather than a payable claim and u've thrown £300 plus into the wind (and will have to pay to have it inspected for the garage to find its down to normal wear and tear). Find a reliable garage and lodge the money in a bank account on a just in case basis.

Ok but end of the day I've come here for help, that's why were all here, to get help and to give help, I don't want to be spoken too like I am a 5 year old child that doesn't listen, I suggest you speak to others the way you would like to be spoken to by others, yes if you hang around here a lot you will get a lot of repetition but that comes with the territory.

Thanks to everyone who has replied I've decided against a warranty and decided to bank the money instead just in case. Your help has been greatly valued
