Rabbit - Eye infection

Today I had Harvey (an indoor mini lop) to the vets to be neutered, all went well, although I was told Harvey hadn't eaten since the op and to keep an eye on him and to contact the vets after 24 hours if he hadn't eaten.

I collected Harvey at 6pm.

He is very sleepy which is normal, but I am concerned about the white puss he has coming from his left eye since his return home, it looks like conjunctivitis (my daughter had it 10 years ago).

Obviously, I'm going to phone the vets in the morning and ask to see them, my question is he certainly did not have this before he went in for the op, (he underwent a pre op check and no medical issues arose during that check) I am concerned they are going to charge me again for a consultation and some type of drug when I think he got this from the vets or do you peeps think it is coincidential.

Would appreciate your input.

When my kitten had an eye infection I was told to purchase Optrex antibiotic eye drops... worked a treat!

I wouldnt reccommend using human treatments on a rabbit. If it were my practice i would see the rabbit for free and just charge for treatment he needs although its highly unlikely they have caused this infection, he definately needs to see a vet to check that its just conj. and not an abcess thats draining from the eye.
