Google Chrome Browser

I'm using Chrome on a large screen. I've used the handles on the sides on the browser window to change it's dimensions. I now want it change back to it's default size.

I'm sure it's simple but I can't see how to do it!
Thanks
SB

lol i had the same problem and ended up giving in and went back to explorer:o
  • Not sure if this is what you want but you can change the size of text and screen size by pressing the ctrl key and the + symbol. return to default by pressing ctrl and 0 (zer0)

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions....unfortunately my issue is not with the text or how much it is zoomed....it's with the sizing of the outer edges of the browser window.

I'm not sure if there is a way to reset at a stroke the size of the Window that Chrome originally opened with. Research mentions removing files, or removing text entries within a file, for resetting the Window size. The idea being that files get re-created (in their default mode) when the browser starts up again. However, I find that playing with the files/entries can stop Chrome from starting altogether.

There is an extension you could use to set various Window preset sizes but it doesn't set the Window to Chrome's original size, so maybe not what you are after. Here's a link anyway:

Is there a reason why the Window can't just be dragged to the desired size?
Error! - Keyboard not attached. Press any key to continue.

Thanks everyone for your advice and links.

The reason I can't drag to the desired size is that I want to use the default dimensions for Chrome. I'm redesigning my website and want to see how it will look to most users...I guess that most people have the browser at native size.

  • Why not set up a new Windows user account and install Chrome in that.

As it's a new account it should be a clean install with all the defaults intact I would have thought.

Here's a neat trick: If you use Windows and you want to quickly resize your browser window, drag the window or tab to pre-defined docking positions on your computer monitor or browser. When the docking icon appears, release the mouse over the icon to have the tab snap in place.

Here are the different docking positions:1.Top of your monitor (in the middle)
The tab appears maximized in a new window when you release it.
2.Bottom of your monitor (in the middle)
The tab appears in a new window that fills the lower half of your monitor.
3.Left and right sides of your monitor (in the middle)
The tab opens in a new window that fills up either the left or right half of your monitor.
4.Bottom of a browser window (in the middle)
The tab appears in a new window below the existing browser window. The two windows splits the monitor in half.
5.Left and right sides of a browser window (in the middle)
The tab opens in a new window that fills up either the left or right half of your monitor. The existing browser window takes up the other half of the monitor, so that the two windows appear side-by-side.

I've just tried that, but nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 all result in the same outcome as no.1.

But won't "most user" still be viewing via IE LINK
Although given the trends you may be making the right call LINK

unless of course you're detecting the browser and adjusting for each browser
