North Greenwich Station - NCP - Blue Badge

Hi guys, first post here, hoping you can help me.

I'm a blue badge holder and often use North Greenwich to commute into London as it saves me using an overground train.

The station/theO2 do have an allocated, seperate car park for blue badge holders although the number is limited (eleven in fact)

This afternoon when I turned up the disabled car park was full, so I took the plunge and parked in the normal car park and displayed my blue badge, I'm not a wheelchair user and did park within the white lines.

On my return I noticed I'd received a 'Parking Contravention Charge' of £75.

What I want to know is, is this enforcable? And, should I appeal?

I read somewhere that car parks now should have 6% of their total allocated to blue badge holders, according to NCPs website North Greenwich has 567 spaces and 11 blue badge spaces, surely there's an appeal within that.

Thanks in advance

Just ignore it. It's not a fine, not enforceable.

Read the stickies at the top of the forum, check out 'PPC letters, what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting' at the top. Watch the Watchdog clip linked there.

Tis a scam and you must not respond to the scammer company. Do not even THINK about 'appealing' (as if they are going to allow any, LOL, think about it!!). This is a private, profit-making company with no requirement for any appeals procedure. It's only there to fool you into believing it's a real ticket, and to gather information.

Read the stickies, all is explained.

  • I'd feel better writing an appeal/complaint letter as then the ball is back out of my court, or should I really not send one? Thanks

No you really wouldn't. Do you reply to phishing emailers too, asking for details of the Nigerian Lottery you have won?

Not only that you would be falling right into their trap of telling them who was driving. Why on earth would you want to do that??

Watch the Watchdog clip, read the sticky info and just play snap with the letters. I don't think you get that this is a scam yet.

  • I've received something similar before from a Tesco car park and knew it was a dodgy company but still sent a letter in and never heard anything back.

I was just under the impression that NCP were more of a legitimate company. But I'll take the advice and save my paper and stamps.

They are a bit more legitimate than some of the PPCs, in that they own the car-parks instead of "manage" car-parks of retail areas/supermarkets, however they are still scammers and can easily be ignored.

NCP are actually one of the worst, ironically using their perceived legitimacy to scam in some jaw dropping ways.

Terrified of taking anyone to court though. It would be all over the papers, whereas their scams are making them the most whilst running under the radar.

The only way of ending up in court by the balls is to do what you are thinking of doing and writing.
It is a contract, they need a name, no name = no contract,

I had exactly the same situation in North Greenwich a year or so ago: blue badge displayed but in a "normal" space, got a "ticket" (or speculative invoice as they really should be called).

I ignored it and never heard anything from NCP ever again.

My advice to the OP would be exactly what others have said: read the stickies, watch the Watchdog clip on YouTube, and ignore ignore ignore.

Ignore them. One of their own supervisors even admitted to me they do nothing but send out a few letters.
