Move

I shall be moving home in Januaray.
As I'm on pay as you go meters what will happen to credit on my meters? How long does British Gas take to transfer account to new house? Do I take my current Gas card/Electricity key with me?
The new house has the pay as go but with different provider.
Recently was informed by British Gas we shall be getting the £120 Warm Home Discount. Would we still get this even after moving? I think the cut off date would pass when we move in, so could not re-apply.

As you get closer to the move out date, run the credit down on the meter, and put the money you would have topped up aside for the new house - it's easier than moving credit.
You will need to register with the supplier of the new house to get your key/card from them - call the week before you move to make sure they are there when you arrive.
Once in you can choose your supplier - look at the comparison sites for the deal that suits you best.
Depending on how you qualified for the WHD you may or may not get it - the core group will receive it based on who their supplier was on a certain date (I think it was in September). The broader group is based on who your supplier is when the payment is made. If you are in the broader group you may not get it from British Gas.0 -
Thanks. Getting the WHD as on Income Support/DLA. Is there any way I can avoid missing this payment? As would hate to miss out all due to moving!0

I think you will miss out on the WH discount as you need to still be in the same property when it gets paid between January and the end of March 2011 as when you were assessed Bryando.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

When is the cut of date to apply again? I intend moving in the last week if Januaray. I thought I could phone British Gas up and simply get them to send me a new key and card out to my new address. Why can this not be done? Why can I not give 2 weeks notice of move and they arrannge to take over the supply on a given date?0
