Hi
It sounds as if I know what I am talking about almost with the title, but I don't. I am using an xbox360 and trying to play multi-player, but my NAT is set on strict, whatever that means. i have had a scan of the internet, which says I need to reset my modem....huh....why, COD black ops multi-player works fine. More importantly, how, I have a thompson router.
One forum i saw said, do NOT lower the NAT, (what is the NAT by the way)
Anyway, this is most frustrating. I recently bought a TV and didn't need to reset all of the microchips etc to use, so why this....
grrr, any help greatly appreciated

The reset just means to reboot your router i.e switch it off leave for 30 secs and switch it back on again;)
If that doesn't work check out this site find the make and model of your router click on it then click on "skip this advert" in the top right hand corner of the screen to get to the game selection screen. Find MW3 and click on it for port forward instructions if available for your router:cool:
Whatever you do, don't buy the download option as the instructions are free and its real quick and easy to do.0 -
NAT is referring to the hardware firewall within your router, and it's the setting in it that results in the strict/moderate/etc. reports from the games. What it effectively does is restrict the online connections to other gamers/servers you can connect to. As implied above, the default port settings in the NAT may need to be modified by port-forwarding to enable you to connect to more/connect more reliably.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Details for re-setting the NAT were on a page on the xbox, it suggests doing the old turn it off and back on trick as suggested by callistris above. I did that and...ta da...no internet at all, on anything....xbox, no internet, even more worrying, imac, no internet...gulp.
After 5 minutes I switched off my imac and decided to have a panic in the corner, switched the imac back on, and hey presto, all working fine and NAT is now open.
Don't know how, don't know why, but I was merrily getting killed 10 times for every kill I made throughout the evening.
thanks, ps, anyone who is equally rubbish at (but loves) COD MW3 online kill-em-all please join, everyone I match against seem to be experts.0
