Hi guys.. Okay, Ive been lured into the feeding trough , but not sure I can get my snout in here.
In the past , I have taken out a car loan (with a Rover dealership), had an endowment linked to mortgage.
I cant honestly remember if I had payment protection on either of them . I dont think Ive had it on my mortgage.
Firstly, is there a time limit to when you can claim ? (as this wouldve been at least 10 years ago)
If not , is there any way of doing a check that would show if I had had it ?
In replying guys , I hope you can not only help me, but this information may also answer what other lurkers may be asking , without actually posting.

Depends on where you bought it and how but its best to assume no limit to begin with. However, the further back you go, the less the regulations were and the less likely there is to be evidence to support your complaint. If not , is there any way of doing a check that would show if I had had it ?
On some credit agreement it will appear on them (not mortgage).
However, remember that having PPI is not a reason for reclaiming. It has to be seen to be mis-sold or set up incorrectly. On loans, that is a doddle. Credit cards slightly less but still quite easy. Mortgage PPI is much harder to have a valid complaint as most are set up correctly and sold under an advice process rather than a sales process.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
