Asda ignoring abandoned trolleys

Last Sunday someone had dumped an Asda shopping trolley near my house, so I called the local Asda and asked them to send someone to collect it as it was likely that local kids would push it around and potentially damage neighbours cars etc.
They said someone would be sent out that day or the following day.
It's now late Wednesday and it's still there.
I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I ended up phoning them 3 times and although they said someone would come out each time, it was never collected. (A neighbour said some kids wheeled it away, so goodness knows where it ended up).
It looks like Asda don't care about their abandoned trolleys. I would have thought they would be more responsive with the current high price of metals, but maybe the trolley is worth less than it costs to send someone to collect it.
Potential damage to cars doesn't seem to move them. So does anyone know how to get them to come out and collect the wretched thing?

Your local council will have a cleaner greener line or similar. Call them and tell them that you have reported to ASDA already. Mine take a dim view when supermarkets do not collect.Eating Out of the Storecupboards Challenge.

Locally, our town is tiny, so when I've found a trolley, I'd always just chuck the trolley in the back of my van/pickup and return it to the store- I suppose I was lucky in that because its a tiny town then people knew who I was and that I wasnt nicking it.
When I went to Lampeter and was walking at the back of some student flats I was appalled at the number of abandoned trolleys, and disgusted that the 2 supermarkets in town didnt seem to be doing anything about it. I suppose they just hike up the cost of what they sell to cover the costs.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0 -
Definitely get onto the council too, maybe asda will listen to the council.0

It's not that Asda do not care about the trolley, each one costs a lot of money.
It is that the staffing levels are so bare bones that there is never someone available to spend the time to walk round to you and collect it.
Perhaps getting the home delivery to collect when passing may have been possible had they thought of it.
I know when my trolley boy son is off he gets called in because they are desperate for someone to clear the car park etc.0 -

I have had the same problem, they tell me how they are going to collect it, put me on hold to speak to someone else who recommends I speak to their head office to get it actioned and the trolley never gets collected.
I found out that my local council charges them £40 for each trolley they recover, now I just tell the council, in fact my local council is pretty bad at dealing with things like dumping but I find they move pretty sharpish if I report via www.fixmystreet.com I suspect they don't like a public record of their inactions so tend to get the finger out.
There is also an app for fixmystreet so you can upload a picture with GPS co-ordinates so no excuse from them about not being able to locate it.0 -
push them into the nearest river with all the other trolleys!Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?0

Thanks for the comments.
I phoned them again. They remembered my previous call and where the trolley was located - "Oh, has no-one been yet?"
They said they'd send someone out tomorrow "first thing". I told them if it was still there at lunch time I'd be reporting it to the council and telling them that Asda had already ignored 2 phone calls about it. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for the fixmystreet tip - I'll make a note of that for next time.0 -
