Internet radio - is this any good?

Hi,

Really I'd be worried about eating up data. You may fall foul of Fair Use Policies or eat up your data allowance.

A DAB radio or radio off freeview/freesat at least is data free.

I already watch a lot of internet TV and download other stuff so doesn't seem to be a problem. We get our internet through a village wireless network though as we can't get it through phone lines. Still get 10MB/sec though! Have you any experience of using one of these radios?

I wouldn't. The most basic BT Broadband package has a usage limit of 10GB per month.

The highest-bitrate Internet Radio service is the BBC HD service which runs at 320Kb per second.

    Listen for a minute = 320*60 = 19,200 KB per min
    Listen for an hour = 19200*60 = 1.125MB per hour (1MB = 1024KB?)

    Listen 24 hours a day, 30 days per month (1.125*24*30) = 810MB per month.

Doesn't even use 1GB out of 10, and who listens 24 hours a day, every day?

Most stations will be at lower bitrates than the above, so data usage even lower
