They have different variations of the letters anyway to say if you're entitled or not, the bit about the conts would only need to be added to each one.0 -
It's all run on a very archaic computer system, or in fact systems. Using the thing is a utter nightmare, to access all the information on 1 claim you have to access tens of screens, doing an action on any one of these, could produce a letter, but not out of a printer near so you can read it but in another office.
Every time there is a change of policy the computer system is updated with another bolt on bit so it gets more and more unwieldy. If from the days when processing power and storage where very expensive so evething is done with codes. For example the notes section is about 30 lines of 20 characters each. This quickly gets filled so old notes are deleted. But no government can spend the billion quid required on a new system because tax payers would not swallow it, and policy would change before in was implemented any way.
Then of course your claim can go clerical, ie on paper.0 -

We used to jsaps and lms so was still complicated but sounds a bit easier. Thanks for explaining how the other side works, as we used about 3 bits on jsaps or more when you get braver, but I always found it daunting.
Lms is a nice system even though they change that quite often.0 -
Same happened to me, I applied for JSA after losing a job last year, I recieved a letter on the Friday saying I was getting nothing, worried myself sick about it over the weekend to the point where I wouldn't come out of the bedroom, then lo and behold, on the Monday morning there was a letter telling me that I was getting x amount starting on y date.Yup some of them are a waste of space!! I had letter last week saying no jsa, not enough contributions..worried sick about it then get letter today saying I can get jsa."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
