Gas oven disposal...

We've had our old gas oven officially disconnected, but apparently most places supplying a new electric oven, will not remove your old gas cooker, unlike electric. The Gas engineer said that often recycling centres don't take them either - because of residual gas issues?

Any ideas what the best way to dispose of a gas cooker is?

Andy

    Rag and Bone man.

Or put it outside with a label on it saying "WANTED" and someone is sure to steal it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

  • Our last one, we put outside whilst we decided what to do with (were planning on flagging down the rag & bone man anyway) and the rag and bone man took it without asking!! Good job we weren't waiting for someone else to pick it up.

ive never heard of a council tip refusing to take a gas cooker.
ours even takes gas cylinders. far more dangerous.

  • As the other folks have said, I'm sure if you put it by your drive someone will take it off your hands!

Our recycling centre is happy to take half-full camping gaz cylinders, so I don't see any reason for them not to take a gas cooker (which has no cylinder)

Rather than relying on hearsay, why not phone your local council's waste department and ask them?

Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
