Old PPI ... ?

Hi there, this is the first time I have posted here, hope I am doing it right! :o/

I had a loan quite a few years ago (early 2000's) with First National Bank. I'm not sure when exactly I paid it off, my own bank can't tell when the last payment was either, but I know it was still in force in 2003, I have heard that it's more difficult with loans from more that 6 years ago, why is that can anyone tell me, and is it still worth me persuing?

It was quite a big loan (for me!) and was for consolidation, I am sorry to be very vague (which probably doesn't help my cause!!) but I no longer have any paperwork. I am sure I can recall being told it would help my case be approved if I took out the insurance. The company was First National Bank - I have googled and can see several companies with this name so not sure which one - the original company may have been taken over and now be called something else, not sure?!! Does anyone know which First National Bank was the most likely one around that time, and does anyone have a current address??

Many thanks in anticipation! Terri

You can still try making a reclaim, but it would help if you did just have hold of the account number, if they are unable to find any details, then they may at least give you an offer of the PPI at least.

However, to try tracking down old loan account numbers, if you bank online and still with the same bank where you paid for the loan every month, this may allow you to check statements going back to about 2002, the loan account number is normally shown next to the monthly repayment, or ask the bank to check this for you.

To make a reclaim, complete the reclaim questionnaire below and send to the ones responsible for selling you the product, remember to save a copy for yourself as well, good luck.

The one and only "Dizzy Di" :D
  • Thats a great help, thank you so much Di ... and yes I recognise that address too now - it wasn't one of the ones coming up when I searched so that's really helped too! :o)
  • just one more question please ... as goes back to the early 2000's, as I mentioned I no longer have any paperwork - I now have an account number and an address, and the questionairre ready to fill in... however although I'm almost certain this is one where I was told I'd have a better case if I took out cover, there is a little niggle just in case I am thinking of a different one and possibly there was no cover on this one (it was sooo long ago!). Shall I just plead ignorance and send everything off, or should I write requesting details of the loan first? If so is there a sort of standard letter for this?

    Many thanks again!

So the process for claiming on older loans is to just fill in the questionnaire and send it to the relevant company who the loan was with?

Is there no covering letter that should go with that?

    Thanks

If you have the account number and reasons for mis sell, then yes, just fill in the questionnaire, you dont need a covering letter.
