Sold house - Making money work for me

We have just sold our house and know that it will be at least 4 months before we are able to start looking for our next property.

We are currently staying with family so have no rent to pay and the ability to save on top of the current collateral we have. We would love to make the most of the money that we have left from the sale but will obviously need access to it soon.

We know with the state of the market interest is very low at banks at the moment. Can anyone help with any information of the best way of making this money work for me while sitting there?

If you want to be able to access your money in 4 months the only safe place is a savings account. Anything with potential higher returns will involve a significant risk that you end up with less than you started.
