And you may well have rejected the goods but as far as Tesco were concerned it was under their own T&Cs and not DSR.0

Thank you everyone for the replies, very very interesting read with a couple of good counter points (like Tesco Online).
It seems that, although in my mind the situation is as unholyangel describes (either its DSR OR make it crystal under the T&C's that it is pick up = contract end), it still would be a lot of daily customer hassle and there would always be a chance of each customer having their own view on how the law applies.
It seems a lot easier and with the same result, to "Reserve Online". This way you avoid DSR and any ambiguity that can go with it.
Im happy to amend my T&C's and feel safe in the knowledge I'm right, but customers can (and will always) feel "tricked" into buying something and being unable to return.0
