Hi All,
I’m looking for something to handle straight printing and also print on cd’s/dvd. My daughter and her friend video weddings and parties and need to print the dvd’s they make.
I’ve looked at the HP 5169, which looks ok. Also the Epson R265, but the Epson is just way too big (it’s got to go in a bedroom), the R265 looks like it should have a scanner on it but someone forgot to install it !!
I want to steer clear of Canon, I’ve had three in the last two and a half years (smartbase 200, iP3000 and a Selphy 820) and they’ve all gone wrong the same way, printing fine spidery lines over everything they output.
Any have any recommendations ?

I have an Epson R320, and whilst it is an the chunky side, its the best printer I've ever owned. In the past I've had 3 HP and 3 Cannons, the last one being a Canon IP3000, but the Epson blows everything out of the water. You can pick on up for £100, I wouldn't rule it out just because of it's size.0

I've had the Canon ip4000 for about 2 years now - used daily in a small business, & cannot fault it. Prints CDs easily & effectively, auto duplexing & separate ink tanks make it very economical. I think the latest one is the ip4200 & it can be bought for not much over £50 now.0

The problem with the Epson is, it’s just too big and won’t fit the space available.
I really don’t know what’s happening with Canon’s.
I’m using Canon ink, but they all keep going wrong.
It looks like a head fault. The Selphy for instance, doesn’t have a black tank, but it’s outputting fine black lines on everything, which mean it’s mixing them from the colours ! I even got a replacement head for the smartbase and that started doing the same thing again within the month…0 -
A few of us off here bought an Epson R200 from Boots for £25.99 last week. Its small enough, its a photo printer and i've found the compatible cartidges for £4.69 plus delivery (which works out well if you buy a few) and it prints great onto CD/DVD but you'll be lucky to find one left. I'd advise ringing Boots head office and getting them to check your local store (big store mind you) if this is what you'd like to do.Always looking for a bargain and to help0

I have the ip4000 too and agree that is is awesome and and never had a problem with it. A Sound investment

can I ask, those of you using the Ip4000 which ink are you getting ? Is there really any reason to pay Canon's price's when third party's carts are that much cheaper (and maybe work better ?).0

Id like to vouch for the ip5000 had it for about a year now and never had a fault with it. It prints cds and dvds flawlessly, much better than lightscribe or any other similar printer ive had before. I use genuine canon refills in my home one because of all the photos i print and lets face it at about £21 for a full set replacement you can't really complain.......But for those that can complain my work Canon all in one that uses the same cartridges uses non genuine at £1.50 to £1.99 a cartridge and has never had a problem with that either. Its a MP780 by the way also over a year old.:D :jThanks
